Van Gogh Alive, Happy Place & Sounds Fun 2021
SOUNDS FUN began as a hands-on interactive music creation event at NZ’s Annual Children’s Music Awards. In 2021 we were invited to open the doors to the wonders of the Van Gogh Alive Exhibition, courtesy of the generous team at Spark Arena.
The Arena asked us to invite tamariki from 16 primary schools, across Tamaki Makaurau, to experience the Exhibition, take part in the Happy Place installation and allowed us to replicate the noisy creativity of a SOUNDS FUN session, for those same students, in the Tuning Fork.
Rockshop/KBB Music’s education team Tanya, Garin provided hands-on opportunities for students to experiment making sounds with a variety of wind instruments!
The APO’s team of Show and Tell musicians entertained and educated with a selection of classical instruments.
Melodics gave tamariki a chance to experience their fun and fabulous online music tutoring app and test their memory, dexterity and musicality.
While Ableton NZ representative and popular DJ, Barnaby Davies, introduce our young participants to the wonderland of musical magic that is Ableton.
We are incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement of the whanau at Spark Arena who see this event as a wonderful way to introduce tamariki to the many different aspects of music making and performance.
The feedback was amazing with the strongest outcome from the comments being everyone, including the teachers, wanted more!
